DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT
Many do not realize that DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT was also from the comedy mind of Mel Brooks.  This 1995 favorite spoofs both the Bela Lugosi DRACULA and Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 film BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, and stars perennial parody movie favorite Leslie Nielsen, along with Brooks himself (as Van Helsing) and Peter MacNicol as Renfield.  Harvey Korman and Steven Weber co-star, as does Brook's wife Anne Bancroft as a Transylvanian gypsy.
SCARY MOVIE / SCARY MOVIE 2 / SCARY MOVIE 3 / SCARY MOVIE 4
Keenan Ivory Wayans (director) and Anna Faris (who shot to stardom via these spoofs) deliver a masterful mockery of melodrama in this series.  The first installment skewers slasher films HALLOWEEN, FRIDAY THE 13th and SCREAM, as well as THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, THE SIXTH SENSE and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER.  SCARY MOVIE 2 ribs THE EXORCIST, POLTERGEIST, GHOSTBUSTERS, THE INVISIBLE MAN and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR.  SCARY MOVIE 3 takes a bite out of SIGNS and THE RING, while SCARY MOVIE 4 impales THE GRUDGE, WAR OF THE WORLDS and SAW.  Co-stars and cameos peppered throughout the series include Carmen Electra, Tim Curry, Chris Elliott, James Woods, Tori Spelling, Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, Charlie Sheen, Leslie Nielsen, George Carlin, Molly Shannon, Darrell Hammond, Simon Cowell, Queen Latifah, Denise Richards, Cloris Leachman, Shaquille O'Neal  and Dr Phil.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
Possibly Mel Brooks' most popular movie parody, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN stars Gene Wilder, who approached Brooks with the idea while they were working together on BLAZING SADDLES.  The resultant 1974 spoof, which pays homage to vintage Universal horror films including FRANKENSTEIN, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, and even THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, is lent authenticity by incorporating the same laboratory equipment used in the original.  This enduring comedy classic was recently turned into a hit Broadway show by Brooks.  (On another musical note, legend has it that after seeing Marty Feldman's turn as Igor, Steven Tyler was inspired to write Aerosmith's 1974 hit "Walk This Way".)

GALAXY QUEST
What do TV stars do when their cult Sci-Fi series is cancelled?  They make a living begrudgingly attending fan conventions, of course.  But what if they are forced into real star wars battle when aliens think their TV show is an actual portrayal of life on earth?  Can they rise to the task and become the galactic heroes they portray on TV?  This clever send-up of the sci-fi genre stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shaloub and the hilariously droll Alan Rickman.  Viewers seem to love GALAXY QUEST or hate it, depending on their allegiance to STAR TREK and their willingness to poke a little fun at Capt Kirk and company.
MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE 3000: THE MOVIE
When it comes to putting cheesy cinema in its place, nobody does it better than Michael J. Nelson and his cohorts, whose pithy patter made MST3K a TV favorite for 11 seasons.  In their movie debut, our janitor hero and his two robot friends are subjected to the worst movie of all time, thanks to a mad scientist whose diabolical plot to attain world domination involves lulling audiences into submission.  As in the TV show, MST3K: THE MOVIE fries an actual film, 1955's THIS ISLAND EARTH.  Is that really the worst movie of all time?  With help from MST3K, it's definitely one of the funniest!

SPACEBALLS
Mel Brooks is at it again with a warp-speed send-up of virtually every sci-fi flick ever made, from STAR WARS and 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY to PLANET OF THE APES and ALIEN. When the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) threatens the planet Druidia, a druish princess seeks the aid of a hapless rogue, a half-man/half-canine and a Yoda-like mentor who draws upon the power of "the Schwartz".  The multi-star cast includes Brooks (in two roles), John Candy, Dom DeLuise, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, Michael Winslow, Joan Rivers and John Hurt.  SPACEBALLS has also spawned an animated TV series.
